Mosques have been a landmark of Muslim communities around the world throughout the history of Islam. While there are many beautiful mosques to visit in Malaysia, there's a stunning mosque in Terengganu that's worth a visit on your next road trip.
Situated in Kampung Lapan Kotak, a village in Besut, Terengganu, it's easy to be enchanted by the bright colourful domes of Masjid Lapan Kubah. Also known as Masjid Russia due to the architectural resemblance to St. Basil's Cathedral in Russia, it was built to replace an old wooden century-old mosque that once stood on the same site. Today, it has become one of the newest landmarks in Terengganu and giving visitors more things to do and visit in the northeastern state of Peninsular Malaysia.
As the mosque continues to attract more visitors, the management has also set up a special corner where visitors can learn more about the early history of the former wooden mosque and the establishment of the new Masjid Lapan Kubah.
